MEDIA RELEASE

Johnson joins Camp Quality
Australian cricketer and ICC international player of the year for 2009, Mitchell Johnson, today
announced a partnership with childrens cancer charity Camp Quality, where he will become the
national ambassador for Camp Qualitys Recreation program.
Johnsons role will involve the promotion of Camp Qualitys programs and services as well as
practical involvement in meeting and bringing fun therapy and optimism to children and their
families living with cancer. Camp Quality will become Johnsons Cricket Cares charity of choice.
We are thrilled to welcome Mitchell into the role of ambassador for our Recreation Program. Our
kids simply love the opportunity to be outdoors, be active and to wherever possible play sport. For
them to know that Mitchell Johnson takes an interest in who they are will be an inspiring and
positive experience. His support of this program will assist us to promote our services and reach
more families as well as to communicate the importance that this program has to the child, family
and community, said Simon Rountree, Camp Quality CEO.
Johnson is honoured to take on the role as Camp Qualitys sole national ambassador:
The work that Camp Quality does to put fun into the lives of children with cancer is something Im
very proud to be associated with, Johnson said.
Im looking forward to doing what I can to assist in promotion and fundraising for the Recreation
Program and also getting out to some of the Camp Quality venues to meet some of those children
and see the work being done first-hand.
Camp Quality is the childrens family cancer charity that believes in bringing optimism and
happiness to the lives of children and families affected by cancer through fun therapy and
education. They believe laughter is the best medicine.
Camp Quality runs education, hospital, family assistance and recreation programs to help create
fun and supportive communities for children and their families living with cancer.
Camp Qualitys recreation program is designed to provide fun therapy opportunities for cancer to
take a back seat so kids can ride waves, ride horses, abseil down cliffs, paddle down rivers and
slip down giant waterslides. A day, a weekend or a week in a fun, optimistic environment can make
all the difference to a childs outlook and ability to deal with cancer. Their recreation program is a
safe environment for kids to celebrate living. Depending on their age, they can choose from Junior
Camp,
Main Camp and Senior Camp. They also run mother-daughter and father-son weekends,
fishing camps and other themed activities.
Cricket Australias Cricket Cares program invites all Australian players to nominate their charity or
community message of choice each season, for more information on Cricket Cares see
