MEDIA RELEASE
Campbells and SIFE partner to can hunger!
Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) has partnered with Campbells - Australias
favourite soup company - to launch Lets Can Hunger, a joint hunger relief initiative
that addresses the issue of hunger and accentuates Campbells commitment to
nourishing peoples lives.
The Lets Can Hunger program challenges SIFE teams from a range of
participating Australian universities to create projects that tackle the hunger
problem with three goals: raising awareness about hunger relief, satisfying
immediate hunger needs in local communities and implementing long-term
solutions that help hunger victims address the cause behind their needs.
So far, 30 SIFE teams from around the country have registered to participate in
the program, which officially kicks-off in January 2010.
According to John Webster, CEO of Foodbank - Australias largest hunger relief
organisation the Lets Can Hunger program is set to make a real difference to
peoples lives.
Two million Aussies rely on food relief every year and half of those are children.
Thats a lot of people going hungry, everyday, said Mr Webster.
Whats so wonderful about the SIFE/Campbells Lets Can Hunger program is
that it leverages the energy, passion and creativity of participating university
students to develop and implement short and long-term hunger relief solutions
where theyre needed most in our communities.
Watch out for a Lets Can Hunger initiative in your community soon!
