Heinz Australia donates beans and baby food to Campaspe Shire Drought Relief

Heinz Australia announced today that it will be donating over 2,000 cases of baked beans to the local

community in support of drought affected families.

“Heinz

has a long and proud record of supplying quality nutritious food to all Australians. This

donation demonstrates our commitment to the communities where we live and work” said Peter

Widdows, Managing Director Heinz Australia. “We hope that this donation will go some way towards

helping struggling families throughout the region and we thank our suppliers for their generous

support which helps make all of this possible”.

Federal Member for Murray Dr Sharman Stone said “Heinz Echuca is to be congratulated on their

most welcomed food donation to help families doing it hard because of drought. Heinz and their staff

volunteers are great corporate citizens. It won’t be only the beans and baby food that gladdens

people’s ears, the good cheer and Christmas spirit is also warmly welcomed.”

Rodney Cole, Operations Manager, Heinz Echuca said, “The Heinz Baby Food Centre of Excellence

is a major part of Echuca. Our employees are locals and we’re happy to be giving back to our local

community just in time for Christmas. We encourage other local business to do what they can to

help”.

The Heinz Baked Beans will be made on 5th December by volunteers from Heinz Echuca as well as

Head Office. Heinz Australia has an employee Volunteering program which provides 2 paid days per

year to each employee to volunteer for non profit causes.

As well as the 2,000 cases of beans, Heinz Australia will be donating 500 cases of baby food. Heinz

has been manufacturing in Australia since 1935 and has been producing baby food in Australia since

1951.

The product is being distributed by St. Vincent De Paul Society Victoria, the material aid partner of

Campaspe Shire Drought Relief Action Group. Vince Connellan, President of the St Vincent De Paul

Society Mid Murray Regional Council, said; “There are so many families struggling to put food on the

table, especially coming up to Christmas, this donation will help thousands of families throughout the

whole region”.

Heinz Echuca employees recently raised funds to purchase a new foetal monitor for the Echuca

Regional Health Maternity wing. Heinz Australia matched the funds raised, dollar for dollar through

the Heinz Help@Hand Program which is dedicated to helping our local communities.

Heinz Australia’s Community program comprises sponsorship, fundraising, employee volunteering

and product donations. As a food company, Heinz Australia’s Corporate Social Responsibility

program is focused on health and wellness and combating hunger.
