LAST WEEKEND TO SUPPORT ANNUAL DOORKNOCK APPEAL

The Heart Foundation Doorknock Appeal ends on 18 September and people in

Queensland are being urged to donate generously to help raise funds to save

Queenslander’s lives. Over 27,000 volunteers across Queensland have been knocking on

doors in their neighbourhood throughout September.

Cameron Prout, Heart Foundation Chief Executive officer said:” Thanks to the efforts of

our volunteers, we are close to raising our local target of one million dollars. However we

need everyone in Queensland to really open their hearts during the last weekend of our

Doorknock Appeal and donate to help us reach our goal. These vital funds will support

critical research and community projects to improve awareness, prevention and treatment

of cardiovascular disease.”

Cardiovascular disease is a major health issue in Australia. It impacts upon two out of

three Australian families, claims almost 46,000 lives each year and affects 3.5 million

people across Australia-that’s one person almost every 10 minutes.

“As a charity, we rely almost entirely on the generous support of individual Australians so

we can continue to reduce the devastating impact heart disease has on Australian

families.

“Our Doorknock Appeal is a great way to become involved with the Heart Foundation and

help us reach our target of $4.4 million nationally in aid of our lifesaving research,

education and community health programs,” adds Mr Prout.  “Every time you knock on a

door this September you could help us save lives.”

Official Heart Foundation Doorknock Appeal volunteers can be recognised easily as they

will be wearing a badge with the Heart Foundation logo and the words Volunteer Collector

Official Identification Badge. The badge also has the volunteer’s ID number and an expiry

date of September 2008. Collectors will also have an official receipt book and a small

Heart Foundation bag.

All donations $2 and over are tax-deductible and the Heart Foundation Doorknock

volunteer can issue supporters with a receipt.

If you miss your local Heart Foundation volunteer, you can make a donation directly to the

ends –

For the month of September, Nulon will donate 50 cents to the Heart Foundation from every bottle

of specially marked Petrol Injector Cleaner value pack sold.
