Local papers in the pink
Vibrant pink covers feature on more than 30 local community newspapers and
magazines this week to highlight the National Breast Cancer Pink Ribbon Campaign
and Pink Ribbon Day, held on October 26.
Fairfax Community Network, publishers of 33 free community publications including
Melbourne Weekly Magazine, The Journal (Dandenong) and Werribee Banner, is
proud to display the Pink Ribbon logo and the vital message: Every 43 minutes in
Australia someones mother, daughter or sister is diagnosed with breast cancer.
This is an important campaign that can help save lives, FCN general manager
Colin Moss says. The pink covers will get the attention of our 1.3 million readers
and raise awareness and much-needed funds to make the future of women living
with breast cancer brighter and the chance of their survival higher.
The Networks staff are holding fund-raising events at all offices and each
publication is accepting donations on behalf of the Cancer Council.
Details for donations: Pink Ribbon Day C/- Level 8, 250 Victoria Parade, East
Melbourne, 3002.
