FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEWEST SA REFUGEES TO EXPERIENCE AUSTRALIAN CHRISTMAS

DUE TO THE GENEROSITY OF MAGIC MOMENTS BASKET

BRIGADE BY PROVIDING CHRISTMAS HAMPERS.

A group of Bhutanese people originally from the Nepalese refugee camps, newly arrived to Adelaide are

being treated to Christmas due to the support of businesses in Adelaide and the hard work of City of

Charles Sturt staff.

“The refugees that make Charles Sturt their home are supported by Council through our Settlement Grants

Program, which is an initiative of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship,” said Councillor Angela

Keneally.

“This type of help is critical to orientate them to Australian society and culture but also to experience Australian

generosity and support which the City of Charles Sturt is providing in partnership with SOL Institute,” she said.

“In 2006 SOL decided to partner with the Anthony Robbins ‘Basket Brigade - Magic Moments’ to distribute 50

boxes to needy persons in the SA community and since then we have doubled this amount every year. In 2009

we will raise $16,000 to purchase 400 boxes for distribution,” said Stan Kontos, Director – SOL Institute.

“Each year, we co-ordinate a team of around 50 volunteers to assist us with this distribution as we believe in the

importance of helping those less fortunate than ourselves and we encourage our clients, friends and colleagues

to share with us, the experience of giving,” Kontos said.

SOL results is partnering with Star Pharmacy Alliance to motivate corporate response to community need.  SOL

results is a personal and professional development company. For more information about us please visit

The boxes are purchased from Foodbank SA.

The hampers to the Bhutanese community will be handed out at 4pm today, Tuesday 15th of December at the

Findon Community Centre  222 Findon Rd Findon.
