NRMA Country Centres Raise $15,000 to Help Homeless Youth

Wednesday 2 December 2009: The NRMA will donate $15,000 to Sydney-based charity Youth Off The Streets at 11:30am tomorrow at the NRMA Insurance Office in Sydney.

Founded in Kings Cross in 1991 by Father Chris Riley, Youth Off The Streets provides vital crisis care for young people who are chronically homeless, drug dependent and recovering from abuse.

NRMA Motoring & Services President Wendy Machin said the NRMA was proud to support Youth Off The Streets through its Country Service Centre network across NSW and the ACT which banded together to raise the much-needed funds.

"Youth Off The Streets is one of the NRMA's corporate charity partners and does an invaluable job of working with homeless youth and young people experiencing crisis in their lives," Ms Machin said.

Youth Off The Streets CEO Father Chris Riley said the charity helps young people to turn their lives around by encouraging positive life choices.

"The support of businesses like the NRMA Country Service Centres is critical in helping these young people as they work to overcome immense personal traumas such as neglect and physical, psychological and emotional abuse," Father Riley said.

NRMA Country Service Centres are located in over 220 sites across NSW and the ACT, providing insurance and essential roadside services in their local communities.

Association of NRMA Country Service Centres President Ewen Cameron said he was pleased to be able to present the $15,000 donation to Father Chris Riley on behalf of the NRMA Country Service Centres.

"I couldn't be more proud of our local NRMA Country Service Centres who dug deep to help support this important charity," Mr Cameron said.
