OPEN DOORS AND HEARTS FOR THE HEART FOUNDATION ANNUAL
DOORKNOCK APPEAL THIS SEPTEMBER
Event: Heart Foundation Annual Doorknock Appeal
Where: Australia wide
Date: 6-19 September 2008
Photo opportunity: Local volunteers are available for interview and photo opportunities across most
regions of Australia.
Why: To raise vital funds for the Heart Foundations lifesaving research, education and community
programs to reduce death, disability and suffering caused by cardiovascular disease among
Australian children, women and men.
When a local volunteer from the Heart Foundation knocks on your door this September please open
your heart and give generously to help save Australian lives from cardiovascular disease.
From 6-19 September, more than 27,500 across Queensland big-hearted volunteer collectors will
donate their time to knock on doors to raise more than one million dollars to help the Heart
Foundation continue to fight cardiovascular disease.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in Australia. It claims
nearly 46,000 Australian lives each year this equates to one life lost almost every 10 minutes.
Cardiovascular disease also affects 3.5 million Australians and two out of three Australian families.
Heart Foundation CEO Cameron Prout said: As a charity, we rely entirely on public donations to
fund our work so please give generously when our volunteers knock on your door. Money raised from
the Heart Foundation Doorknock Appeal will help us continue to save lives through our research,
education and community health programs.
If you miss your local Heart Foundation volunteer, you can make a donation directly to the Heart
ends
