Try Youth & Community Services creating jobs through home insulation
Try Youth & Community Services (TRY), a charity based on giving people opportunities to reach
their potential, is one of the not for profit organisations who are creating jobs through the
Federal Governments Economic Stimulus Program.
The Government is providing up to $1,200 worth of home ceiling insulation for eligible
households as part of the economic stimulus program. TRY is a registered installer with the
program.
TRY has been installing insulation in Melbourne and the Gippsland region for the last few
months which has helped us to create 49 jobs for people who otherwise would have been out
of work said Damian Mowlam CEO of TRY.
Because we are a not for profit organisation, all the money we receive goes back to creating
more jobs or providing services to our local community he said.
TRY provides a range of services including the management of kindergartens, childcare centres
and provides programs such as Big Brothers Big Sister of Melbourne, Kids Who Care, Kinder Kids
Australia and training and employment services.
We are competing in a very competitive environment in regards to getting jobs for home
insulation were competing with private companies and new start up companies taking
advantage of the government rebate said Helen Robinett, Chairman of TRY.
Whats important is that weve been around for 127 years and by choosing to use a not for
profit organisation, you are actually helping your local community She said.
