Urgent `Cattle Call' for Queensland Charity Drove
14 July 2009

Regional Queensland's young people will be the big winners of the nation's most ambitious charity
cattle drove this spring.

But the Stock Up for Hope Charity Drove still needs 250 cattle to reach its fundraising target of over
$300,000.

Over 500 donated cattle will be droved from Mitchell to Roma to support school chaplains in the bush.

The State's cattle producers have defied the current economic downturn and thrown their support
behind the Drove, according to Drove Director, Duncan Brown.

"The response has been phenomenal. The Drove offers people the chance to turn cattle into hope, as
people from the bush give back to young people in the bush."

"We are just over halfway towards our target of 500 store cattle and 100 prime cattle we've even got
livestock coming from Melbourne! Now is the time for more Queensland producers to step up and give
a few head to support their young people."

Another 200 store cattle and 50 prime cattle donations are needed to reach the target for the Drove.
Organisers are calling on producers from around the State to get involved by contacting their local
Landmark or Elders branch.

The Drove will hit the road on 9 September and see over 40 city slicker corporates try their hand at
droving over the five weeks. Finishing in Roma on Tuesday 13 October, the sale will culminate in a
prime and store cattle sale at the Roma saleyards followed by an agribusiness forum and climaxing with
a 500 head Gala Dinner, featuring Troy Cassar-Daley and a three-course meal from Brisbane's award-
winning chef, Jason Peppler.

All funds will support school chaplains with SU Qld, the fastest growing children's and youth
organisation in Australia and the nation's largest provider of school chaplains.

"The Stock Up for Hope Charity Drove is all about offering friendship and positive role models for the
thousands of young people living in regional areas," said Tim Mander, CEO of SU Qld and former NRL
Grand Final Referee.

"Many of these youth struggle with feelings of isolation, depression and loneliness... chaplains are a
constant presence and a beacon of hope. The Drove will see more chaplains in the regional
communities making a tangible difference."

Cattle Donations and Gala Dinner tickets can be secured at www.stockupforhope.org.au.
