media release
31 August 2009
The ANF today welcomed the appointment of the inaugural Nursing and
Midwifery Board of Australia in the lead up to national registration and
accreditation in 2010.
ANF federal secretary Ged Kearney said the appointment of 10 health
professional boards was an important development in the move to a National
Registration and Accreditation Scheme for Health Professionals.
The ANF is pleased with the strong nursing leadership represented on the
Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, Ms Kearney said.
I congratulate all of the nurses and midwives appointed to oversee the
introduction of national registration and accreditation next year.
Ms Kearney said the ANF was pleased to see an enrolled nurse represented
on the Board.
I would particularly like to congratulate Lynne Geri who is president of the
National Enrolled Nurse Association (NENA). Enrolled nurses play a vital role
in the Australian health care system and deserve recognition on our national
bodies.
NENA is an ANF special interest group.
