New book celebrates the lives of palliative care patients
Cabrini Prahran, the only private palliative care centre in Australia, celebrates
10 years of patient care with the launch of a book A Life Well Lived by Amanda
Place.
To be launched by Melbourne personality, Dan Webb, this wonderful book features
inspiring stories about the lives of patients who have received care at Cabrini
Prahran.
Attending the event will be Stonnington Mayor (South Ward), Cr Claude Ullin and
Professor Margaret OConnor AM, President of Palliative Care Australia.
Palliative care delivered at Cabrini Prahran recognises the individual needs of a
person with life-threatening illness. The focus is not on cure, but on treating the
symptoms by making patients comfortable, by controlling their pain and helping
them to make changes to make their life easier. It aims to make the patient feel in
control of their treatment and their quality of life. Palliative care at Cabrini Prahran
also involves family and friends, recognising that they too may need help in coping
with the illness of someone they love.
