DEPUTY OPPOSITION LEADER TO VISIT REGIS THE GARDENS 


The Hon.

Julie Bishop, Deputy Opposition Leader, will today visit specialist aged care facility,

Regis The Gardens.


Ms. Bishop

officially opened the facility 5 years ago and is returning to not only see how the

facility is faring but to be given a full briefing on the new 30 bed extension, which recently

commenced construction.


The expansion of The Gardens will bring the number of aged care beds at the facility to 150 and

will offer high and palliative care beds, along with an in-house café, cinema, hairdressing salon

and professional consulting rooms. All rooms in the new wing will be single with their own en suite

and rooms on level one will also feature spacious balconies.


The new wing will also create further employment opportunities for local healthcare professionals

and have a positive flow on effect to the local community.


Along with the new extension the existing entry way will be upgraded and a number of activity

rooms will be extended.


Regis The Gardens Facility Manager, Jill de la Lande says, “Regis is proud to be at the forefront

of aged care and in building and offering first class facilities to Australia’s aged community.


“Whilst other aged care providers are putting their expansion plans on hold due to funding issues

Regis is moving forward with a substantial construction and refurbishment program and

responding to the challenge of an ageing population.

only here in Port Stephens but across the country.

The new wing of Regis The Gardens is scheduled to open mid
