Draeger Advances Discussion on Neonatal Ventilation
MELBOURNE, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-Asia-AsiaNet/ --
Expert shares insights into neonatal respiratory care with Australian medical professionals as part of the
Draeger Respiratory Care Speaker Tour
Draeger, a Germany-based company with 120 years of innovation in ventilation, has just completed the
Australian leg of the Draeger Respiratory Care Speaker Tour yesterday, the 9th of November 2009, in
Melbourne. The Respiratory Care Speaker Tour consists of a series of high level medical forums by leading
experts in respiratory care to enhance respiratory knowledge amongst medical professionals in Asia and
Australia. Professor Colin Morley, a British expert on neonatal ventilation, shared his expertise with Australian
medical professionals on the invitation of Draeger in Melbourne, Australia.
Professor Morley gave an educational and interactive presentation on a topic with which he is intimately
familiar. His interactive presentation, titled "Go with the Flow", focused on the techniques involved in
interpreting data for respiratory care of neonates - a practice which demands high levels of accuracy and
precision due to the neonate's immature respiratory system and the risk of further lung damage that may
occur. The former Director of Neonatal Medicine at The Royal Women's Hospital Melbourne is an expert in
neonatal respiratory care. Retired in 2008, Professor Morley still remains an active neonatal expert, with his
current research focusing on neonatal resuscitation, nasal continuous positive air pressure (CPAP) and
mechanical ventilation.
Ms Alison Curren, the Managing Director of Draeger's Medical Division in Australia, explains: "With
Professor Morley's expertise and vast experience in the field of neonatal respiration, we hope to generate new
discussions and further improvement in neonatal respiratory care. Respiratory care is an area in which
Draeger has extensive experience, and with the Draeger Respiratory Care Speaker Tour, we show our
commitment to the further development of neonatal respiratory care in Australia."
About the Draeger Respiratory Care Speaker Tour
As the final component of the Draeger Respiratory Care Speaker Tour, Professor Morley's presentation is
one of a series of three presented by Draeger on the topic of respiratory care. The tour seeks to address
central ventilation issues. In July 2009, Professor Putensen, a world-renowned German researcher on
respiratory medicine and technology, spoke in China and Thailand as part of the tour. More than 250 medical
professionals, researchers, doctors and decision makers in the healthcare industry attended the series of
lectures in the cities of Beijing, Nanjing and Kunming in China and in Bangkok, Thailand.
