Hello,
Recent investigations into the effects of welding fumes have sparked serious OH&S concerns for employers and workers. Contributing to this problem are toxic anti-spatter products which utilise petro-chemicals and the highly volatile chemical Methylene Chloride as a solvent.
The National Industrial Chemicals Notification & Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) has uncovered the extremely hazardous effects of exposure to Methylene Chloride, inhalation of which resulted in two recent deaths in Australia. Exposure to Methylene Chloride, NICNAS warns, can also result in depression of the central nervous system and loss of consciousness.
Please see attached media release for further information. If you require any images or interviews, please let me know.
