HEALTH REFORM CONSULTS IN CAIRNS
The Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd,
and the Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon,
will visit Cairns Base Hospital on Friday (7 August).
They will tour the hospital and conduct a consultation forum on the 123
recommendations of the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission.
The Commissions report, A Healthier Future For All Australians, makes
recommendations on every facet of health care, including dental care, workforce
issues, Indigenous health, hospitals, primary care, aged care. preventative health and
the use of electronic patient records.
Hospital and local health professionals will attend the consultations tomorrow to put
their views on the recommendations to the Government.
Community forums will also be held in various locations around Australia.
Media is invited to attend The PM and Minister Roxon will visit patients in the wards
pool camera arrangements may be required.
