WORLD CANCER DAY MEDIA EVENT
Cancer survivors help shape new Queensland Childrens Hospital
World Cancer Day on 4 February has special significance for the youngest member of
the team developing Queenslands new Childrens Hospital.
Queensland Childrens Hospital Project team member Sam Brookfield, 20, is a survivor
of non-hodgkins lymphoma and is putting his experiences to use as a cor-ordinator of the
Youth advisory Forum and the Family Advisory Council for the Queensland Childrens
Hospital Project.
Dakabin mother-of-two Jodie Guerrero became involved with the Family Advisory
Council through her daughter Julias diagnosis with autism.
Jodies dedication to the new hospital takes on added significance in light of the fact she
has been fighting her own battle with cancer since 2006.
