OPEN DOORS AND HEARTS FOR THE HEART FOUNDATION

DOORKNOCK APPEAL THIS SEPTEMBER

Event: Heart Foundation Doorknock Appeal

Where: Queensland

Date: 5-18 September 2009

When a local volunteer from the Heart Foundation knocks on your door this September open your

heart and give generously to help save Australian lives.

During September, more than 27,000  big-hearted volunteer collectors across Queensland will donate

their time to knock on doors to raise more than one million dollars to help the Heart Foundation

continue to fight cardiovascular disease.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in Australia. It claims

nearly 46,000 Australian lives each year – this equates to a life lost every 10 minutes. It affects two out

of three Australian families.

As a charity, the Heart Foundation relies almost entirely on public donations so give generously when

our volunteers knock on your door. Money raised from the Heart Foundation Doorknock Appeal will

help us continue to save lives through our research, education and community health programs.

If you miss your local Heart Foundation volunteer, you can make a donation directly to the Heart

Foundation by visiting www.heartfoundation.org.au or calling 1800 55 22 55.

About the Heart Foundation

This year the Heart Foundation marks its 50th anniversary as Australia’s leading voice on heart health.

The Heart Foundation saves lives and improves health through funding world-class cardiovascular research,

developing guidelines for health professionals, informing the public and assisting people with cardiovascular

disease.  While the work over the past five decades has helped reduce the number of deaths, cardiovascular

disease (heart, stroke and blood vessel disease) remains one of Australia’s most devastating health problems.

As a charity, the Heart Foundation relies on donations and gifts in Wills to continue its lifesaving research,

education and health promotion work. For further information visit www.heartfoundation.org.au or call 1300 36
