Islamic Council of Victoria Statement on Melbourne Terror Raids

Islamic Council of Victoria (ICV) has urged for calm in the wake of the police raids in Melbourne overnight.
President Ramzi Elsayed said the ICV has is confident that the police investigation will be carried to the highest probative standard.
"The ICV also expects that the police will respect the legal rights of the people arrested in this morning's operation" he said.
"The ICV urged the media to respect the privacy and dignity of the families concerned in today's operation."
The Islamic Council of Victoria Vice President, Sherene Hassan, also welcomes Victoria Police Commissioner Simon Overland's comments that Muslims in no way approve or support any kind of terrorist activities and are valued members of our community.
"The ICV has a strong relationship with both the Victoria Police and the Australian Federal Police and we look forward to continue working with them in the future," she said
