Paul de Waard to receive City of Melbourne Commendation
Paul de Waard, the Dutch backpacker seriously injured while helping others during the Melbourne
CBD shooting incident in June 2007 will be awarded with a certificate of commendation from the
Lord Mayor John So at a ceremony to be held at the Melbourne Town Hall on Wednesday 19
November 3pm 4pm.
The City of Melbourne commendation ceremony will officially recognise Pauls brave actions along
with those of the emergency and medical personnel who assisted him.
In addition, Mr de Waard has also been nominated for a bravery award by the City of Melbourne,
which he will receive from the Royal Humane Society in a ceremony to be held at Government
House on Thursday 20 November.
WHAT:
Paul de Waard, his mother and girlfriend, The Lord Mayor John So, the
Consul-General of the Netherlands, key personnel from the emergency
services and other individuals nominated by Mr de Waard, will all be present
at the commendation ceremony.
WHERE:
