Helping older adults to enjoy an active life is the focus of an upcoming program at Lake

Burrendong Sport and Recreation Centre. The Active Life Weekend will be held from

Friday 27 to Sunday 29 March (enrolments close 13 March).

“Older adults have so much to gain from an active lifestyle – improved physical health,

mental health and social connections,” said Joanne Barrett from NSW Sport and

Recreation.

“The Active Life Weekend at Lake Burrendong provides a safe and fun environment for

light physical activity and social recreation.

“It promises to be a fantastic experience with activities including:

Lifeball (a ball game designed to challenge the brain and getting you moving)

Pole walking (walking with the assistance of poles)

Archery

Aqua aerobics

Circus skills

Initiatives

Environmental awareness

Bush dancing

Fishing

Early morning walks

Traditional Indigenous Games

A concert on the Saturday night and BBQ in the great outdoors.

“I strongly encourage older adults to make the most of this opportunity to kick start an

active lifestyle - it’s never too late to get active.”

Lake Burrendong Sport and Recreation Centre is a one hour drive from Orange or Dubbo.

Bookings for the Active Life Weekend close Friday 13 March. The program costs $135

including all activities, accommodation and meals. Call NSW Sport and Recreation on (02)
