OUTSTANDING PROSTATE CANCER FIGHTER RECEIVES 

ORDER OF AUSTRALIA MEDAL


WHAT: 

Prostate cancer sufferer and dedicated

campaigner for men’s health,

Tony

Sonneveld, will receive a Medal of the Order of Australia next week for his service to

the industry of Non-Destructive Testing, and to the community.


Tony recently finished in the national Top 20 fundraisers for Movember, raising

nearly $9,000 to help support research into prostate cancer and depression.  He is

the Chairman of the NSW Board of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia

(PCFA) and is involved in the National Men’s Health Ambassador Speaking

Program.  As a

National Men’s Health Ambassador, Tony spreads the word about

prostate and continence health in rural and metropolitan communities across

Australia, educating and encouraging men to maintain regular contact with their

doctor.


Tony was diagnosed with severe and inoperable prostate cancer in 2003.  He now

has 3-5 years to live. 


Tony is working through a bucket list of activities that he would like to achieve in his

lifetime (helicopter flights, Kokoda trail, skiing etc) which could pose as great photo

or filming opportunities.
