MEDIA RELEASE
COMMUNITY ENCOURAGED TO SUBMIT IDEAS FOR BARANGAROO
Community Plan Submissions
14 September 2010
The Barangaroo Delivery Authority is encouraging Sydneysiders to make a submission on how
Barangaroo can contribute to the diversity and vitality of Sydney.
Chairman of the Barangaroo Delivery Authority, Mike Collins said that the Authority was seeking
community input into the development of a Community Plan for Barangaroo.
The plan will cover a range of topics:
Culture
Key worker/affordable housing
Education and training
Retail and supporting uses
Tourism, employment and small business development
Recreation and wellbeing
Community facilities
At the recent Headland Park Design Open Day, the Premier announced Barangaroos Headland
Park would contain a space that could be home to a new Sydney cultural facility, Mr Collins said.
There are also further opportunities within Barangaroo Central and Barangaroo South for
community and social oriented uses, and we want the community to help decide how best to
ensure these opportunities assist in creating Barangaroo as a vibrant precinct for Sydney.
We are keen to hear your ideas for cultural, educational and housing opportunities that are
engaging and accessible to a wide range of people, that will ensure Barangaroo is an active and
welcoming part of Sydney and provides something unique for Sydney that complements rather
than replicates or competes with what already exists, he said.
Submissions can be made on the following topics:
Cultural uses at Barangaroo
Key worker/ affordable housing
Education and training.
Submissions must be received by Monday 18 October 2010.
