NOTICE TO MEDIA COVERING MEDIBANK INTERNATIONAL SYDNEY 2010
Sydney Olympic Park Authority wishes to remind reporters and media commentators that the Medibank
International Sydney 2010 tournament is being held at the Tennis Centre at Sydney Olympic Park – and
not in Homebush or Homebush Bay.
Sydney Olympic Park was officially declared a suburb by the NSW Geographic Names Board on 30
September 2009. Please use the correct reference “Sydney Olympic Park” and not Homebush which is a
separate (neighbouring) suburb. Incorrect reference causes confusion, leading commuters to disembark
incorrectly in the wrong suburb when travelling to events.
The Medibank International Sydney 2010 tournament will be held at the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis
Centre until 16 January 2010. Your assistance in reinforcing the correct name of the precinct this week and
thereafter would be greatly appreciated.
