CASTLEREAGH HIGHWAY INTERSECTION
ROUNDABOUT
The State Government is providing $450,000 to build a new roundabout on the
Castlereagh Highway at the corner of Douro and Market streets, Mudgee.
Mid Western Regional Council will build the roundabout next year but will start
preliminary work at the intersection involving the relocation of utilities.
This roundabout will be on one of the main intersections in Mudgee for traffic
travelling through the town so this work will benefit a large number of people, an
RTA spokesperson said.
Douro Street connects Market Street in the north of the town to Horatio Street and
Sydney Road to the south.
There will be work in the vicinity of the intersection between now and Christmas to
move utilities and prepare for the construction, the spokesperson said
To relocate the utilities as quickly as possible the council will close the intersection
completely for two days from 12 November 2009. Detours will be clearly marked.
Major building work is expected to start in January 2010 and be finished by mid April
2010.
The RTA appreciates the cooperation of the community while the preliminary work is
completed.
