SENIORS HAVE-A-GO DAY 2010 A Be Active Event

Burswood Park Wednesday 3 November 2010


It’s

that time of year again when the Seniors Recreation Council of WA presents its annual

Have-a-Go Day 2010. It is on Wednesday 3

November at Burswood Park, Great Eastern

Highway, between 8.30am and 3pm.


Have-a-Go Day is a free event that invites the  Over 45’s

to try a range of sporting and

recreation activities and hopefully go on to join a sport or recreation club. It also provides a

large range of displays that present information on a wide range of topics. 


Last year in excess of 12,000 people attended the event, and this year is expected to be

bigger and better with 200 sites.


A

thrilling line-up of activities includes a climbing wall, exercise to music, organised walk, wood

chopping, photographic competition and exhibition, pole walking, tennis,

tai chi

and archery.

Seniors can also try their hand at dry casting, golf, canoeing and brain training.


Floral and

travel displays will also be present and the North Coast Marine Modellers will have

model ships on display and on the lake. 


The official opening will be conducted by the Minister for Sport and

Recreation the Hon Terry

Waldron. The opening will begin at 9.25 am

followed immediately by a large demonstration of

exercise to music by Prime Movers, which will include the launch of the Living Histories CD.


Channel 7 personalities such as Monica Kos, Sally Bowrey, Tina Altieri, Emmy Kubainski, Ric

Ardon

and

Basil Zempilas will be in attendance throughout the day. 882AM 6PR

and Curtin

Radio 100.1FM will be doing on-site broadcasting all day.


Special services on offer throughout the day include free tea, coffee and water from the

hospitality tents

Insurance Brokers, eye sight testing by Lions Eye Institute, hearing test by Lions Hearing

Institute and the Royal Life Saving Society will be providing three first aid sites on the day.


Food vendors will be in attendance with free food tastings from Burswood Entertainment

Complex and Fresh Finesse.
