Burswood Park Wednesday 3 November 2010
It’s
that time of year again when the Seniors Recreation Council of WA presents its annual
Have-a-Go Day 2010. It is on Wednesday 3
November at Burswood Park, Great Eastern
Highway, between 8.30am and 3pm.
Have-a-Go Day is a free event that invites the Over 45’s
to try a range of sporting and
recreation activities and hopefully go on to join a sport or recreation club. It also provides a
large range of displays that present information on a wide range of topics.
Last year in excess of 12,000 people attended the event, and this year is expected to be
bigger and better with 200 sites.
A
thrilling line-up of activities includes a climbing wall, exercise to music, organised walk, wood
chopping, photographic competition and exhibition, pole walking, tennis,
tai chi
and archery.
Seniors can also try their hand at dry casting, golf, canoeing and brain training.
Floral and
travel displays will also be present and the North Coast Marine Modellers will have
model ships on display and on the lake.
The official opening will be conducted by the Minister for Sport and
Recreation the Hon Terry
Waldron. The opening will begin at 9.25 am
followed immediately by a large demonstration of
exercise to music by Prime Movers, which will include the launch of the Living Histories CD.
