QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA, NOVEMBER 4, 2010 - Thomas the Tank EngineTM and his friends are poised to claim a new world record for
Australia the longest toy train track ever built. Thomas & Friends set off on their epic three-hour journey around the track at 11am this
morning (QLD time) and having completed a full circuit, all that is left for Australia to claim the world record is official verification from the
Guinness Book of World Records team in London.

Constructed at The Workshops Rail Museum in Ipswich, the Australian toy train
track is set to break the Guinness World RecordTM held by Japan. The Thomas-
themed toy train track, built using Thomas the Tank EngineTM Fisher-Price
TrackMasterTM pieces, measures 2.014 kilometres, making it 364 metres
longer than the previously-held record, which was built at Mediage/Aqua
City, Odaiba, Japan on the 23rd August 2006.

The toy train track has been engineered using 10,197 pieces of track,
includes 40 Thomas & Friends engines, 40 stations, and winds its way past some of
Australia's most famous landmarks - the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, Uluru, Flinders Street Station, and Kangaroo Island.

It took a team of 20 people 214 hours to build, and it spans 35m x 5m wide. The structures total length is six times the height of the Eiffel
Tower, five times higher than the Empire State Building, five and a half times the height of Uluru (Ayres Rock), and long enough to surround
the Melbourne Cricket Ground four times.

Pallets of Fisher-Price Thomas & Friends TrackMaster sets were flown in especially to Ipswich,
Queensland, and construction began last weekend to ensure that the track was completed in time for
the world record attempt.

The record-breaking track has been registered with the Guinness Book of World RecordsTM in the
UK, and Thomas and his fans in Australia and are eagerly awaiting final confirmation that they
have broken the world record.

The record-breaking toy train track will be on display to the general public at The Workshops Rail
Museum on Saturday 6th November. Sir Topham Hatt, The Fat Controller, will also be on hand to
ensure everything runs smoothly and on time. For ticket information, please visit

Meagan Reay, Marketing Director at Mattel, Australia said, "This is a great way to celebrate the launch

a very special year for the world's No.1 preschool boys brand. This year we celebrated Thomas & Friends 65th Anniversary,
and the debut of an all-new CGI animated series. For the first time ever, our iconic blue engine and his friends have their own
voices to tell their own stories, and inspire the imaginations of all young fans. We know Thomas will continue to entertain
children for years to come, and claim a few more records along the way!"

Andrew Moritz, Director of The Workshops Rail Museum, said, "This has been such an exciting event for us to be part of. To claim
another World Record for Ipswich, QLD and to have The Workshops Rail Museum promoted on the international stage like this ahead
of our Day out with Thomas 2011 event starting on Boxing Day is great for us and all Australian Thomas & Friends fans."
